Principal Research Scientist

If you are a technologist specializing in robotic autonomy and vision processing, and you have an entrepreneurial spirit, RE2 Robotics has the perfect role for you. The Principal Research Scientist position embodies both a strong technical element as well as the opportunity to build a thriving business unit in a rapidly growing company.

RE2 Robotics has become a leading developer of mobile manipulation by working closely with universities, research institutes, and the federal government to create manipulation systems that are light-weight, rugged, and powerful. Through our research, we have developed manipulators that are highly dexterous and easily controlled. In our vision, the next horizon to mobile manipulation is the addition of greater autonomy of the system so that our systems can run with less supervision and in environments with highly limited bandwidth. The Principal Research Scientist will be a leader within RE2 to help us turn this vision into a reality.

Primarily, the Principal Research Scientist will be responsible for leading the technical development of autonomy and vision processing algorithm development. In addition, the ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit to help shape the direction of the company in this important area, help develop business cases, write proposals, and lead teams/projects to further our autonomy applications.

At a fundamental level, the following requirements are absolute for this position:

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or other related field with a minimum of 5 years of progressive research experience in artificial intelligence, automation, and/or vision processing
  • Experience in the ability to convince investment in a new idea or concept based on said research
  • Must be U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident

If you possess the above key attributes, please Learn More for the full job description and to apply.

Interested candidates must be either a U.S. citizen or possess a Permanent Residency Card in order to comply with Government Contracts.
